Well dudes, I've been putting this off and doing some soul searching, but... All things must come to an end... or at least an indefinite respite. When we started the Dudecast we had a list of things that we really wanted to achieve and deliver with the Dudecast. We wanted to have a platform to help spread the message of Dudeism, explore it and ourselves and help other Dudes out there come together. With that, we also wanted to build enough of a following that we were able to really achieve that. Lastly, and it really was the last item for us, we wanted to get to a point where there was some sponsorship interests so that we could at least recoup the costs of maintaining the Website and associated costs/Facebook/Twitter and all that. Really, we just wanted to be able to pay the yearly web hosting costs. We knew that a lot of what we put in would never be recouped and that wasn't what we were worried about. Each Dudecast is the result of about 20-30 hours of effort. A couple of hours to record, then a lot more for editing and publishing things, not to mention lining people up. Having full time jobs, and in my case being on the road every week on top of the time and effort involved in getting things out there has really somewhat killed the enthusiasm and drive to continue. We have really loved the support that we have gotten from everyone who was subscribing and feel grateful for all of the great people we have been able to interview and meet along the way. The Dudeism community is amazing and we still love every bit of it. But, unfortunately (at least for now) we need to do some "take it easy time" and end the Dudecast. We weren't able to build the audience we had hoped to and the time investments (and financial ones) are getting more and more difficult and adding a lot of stress and we're just looking at things way too uptight man. We really do want to thank everyone who listened to the Dudecast and supported us along the way! You Dudes are awesome! One day we may be able to find our sponsor, or our time and availability will change, or we might just find the spark again and we'll come back, but for now... Our Facebook Page and website (for now) will continue on, but the Dudecast is on indefinite hyatus.
Finally the next Dudecast is here tomorrow and we have an amazing guest. Claire Foster, author of "I've Never Done This Before" talks to us about her book, her life, battling addiction, and finding her way back via "The Dude". This is a definite don't miss episode! For now, you can check out some of the great past episodes with Oliver Benjamin, James Hoosier (Liam), Gary Silvia, Rev. Dudely Noted, Daniele Bolelli, Jeffrey Peterson, Will Russell, Dwayne Eutsey and William Nuna Fielder on the Dudecast page, iTunes or on YouTube!

Just wanted to say sorry Dudes! We've been a bit under the weather, or well... under weather advisories for the past couple of weeks. Episode 11 has been delayed as a result. First it was Beau's turn and he had to evacuate for floods in Iowa. Then I was in the thick of things in Florida for Hurricane Matthew. We're all good, no worse for wear, but it did shut down operations for a couple weeks. The Dudecast is still alive and well though and we'll be back again next week with a brand spankin new episode featuring the Dudely Llama's right hand man and all around righteous Dude in the US, Gary Silva! Soon after we'll have a couple more on their way with Gonzo Journalist, Cannabis Advocate, and Dudeist Priestess Jennifer "Bathtub Jenn" Knight joining us in Episode 13. In the mean time, check out some of the past Episodes here!

Hey Dudes, we just wanted you all to know we haven't forgotten, fallen off the planet, or fallen victim to some nefarious nihilist plot to cut off our Johnsons. Sometimes life just deals more gutters than strikes, more downs than ups and what-have-yous and it takes a bit longer to bring ourselves back to center where we can give time and effort to the Dudecast in the way we should... But, nothing is fucked! We will be back with Episode 9 that will feature Danielle Bolelli of The Drunken Taoist fame next week. In the mean time, good thoughts, positive vibes, suggestions, events, or just a hello is always welcome Dudes! Email us at Dude@orderofthedude.com
Finally, at long last Daniele Bolelli of The Drunken Taoist and History on Fire podcasts joins us on the Dudecast! This time, the record button was on! Daniele is a history professor and the author of several books including "A Warriors Path", "50 Things you're not supposed to know about religion", "Create your own religion" and "Not Afraid" as well as a fighter in mixed Martial Arts and single parent. We talk about his life and path of discovery and love of the history of the Native Indian. Then to his participation in a traditional Lakota Sundance and discuss taking a personal journey away from the noise of society.
So a couple of Dudes who listen to the Dudecast way over in Australia let me know that they were inspired by of one our recent episodes and decided to set up their own Dudeist bowling get together! If you're a Dude in Australia check out their event page for more information. Great job Aussie Dudes!
From Their event site
"Are you a Little Lebowski Urban Achiever? Or an easy going laid back Dude who might, or might not, enjoy bowling or an occasional White Russian? Are you obviously not a golfer? Then come bowling, man!
My name's Aaron and I want to meet and chill with other practicing Dudeists! AMF Belconnen have 2x games for $10 after 9pm on Saturday nights. So, the plan is to meet on the first Saturday of every month for bowling, White Russians and discussion of The Big Lebowski and the philosophy associated with the movie."
Being needy and needing self-affirmation isn't really a very attractive quality for your day to day life and really something a Dude should avoid if at all possible.. But here's the proverbial "But"... In Podcasting, it's kind of a necessary evil, otherwise we're just shouting into the void and hoping that what we're doing connects and resonates with the community that we want to support. Constantly guessing if what you're doing is what people find valuable and worthwhile. Over the past few months of the Dudecast, we've been less direct about asking for feedback. Trying to de-emphasize our neediness and hope that people are willing to organically respond and give us that feedback we really need to hear.. Well.. that hasn't really been feeding the monkey. There are some important things I should mention here... We are most definitely not in things for the money. We have no sponsors, we don't provide advertisement apart from free advertising for events we feel Dudes would be interested in, and we're not selling anything. (Well, we had thought about doing some shirts, but that turned out exhausting and overly expensive. I mean... who would want to spend 30$ on a Dudecast shirt anyway). This venture has been fully out of pocket for us to this point. We do hope that at some point maybe we could pick up a sponsor or two, but really just to pay for the website expenses and maybe some better equipment for recording to improve the quality. Ultimately we do this because we believe in this community, want to make a difference, work to bring to community together, and hope to bring others to Dudeism. Having said that, the nature of the beast is that we need your help. For us to grow, reach a greater audience, and to know that we're achieving our mission, we need your feedback. That can be giving us a rating on iTunes, reaching out to us on Facebook, Sharing our site or Dudecast with friends, or just sending a good ole email to let us know what you think. Without this feedback we're like a child wandering into the middle of a movie... My point is... we need you Dudes!
That's right Dudes! Oliver Benjamin, The Dudely Lama himself, the founder of Dudeism, author of "The Abide Guide", "The Dude De Ching" and "The Tao of The Dude" will be on the next Order of the Dude Dudecast. This is one you will not want to miss for sure. Oliver talks about life, and his views on where Dudeism has been, and is going in the future. Until then, catch up on the previous Dudecasts on iTunes, YouTube, Google Play, or you can listen or download them right from our site here.
You won't want to miss the next Order of the Dude Dudecast! We've got William Nuna Fielder on to talk about his book "The Dude See Scrolls". The book is an unexpected treasure with a great story that grabs and keeps you reading. An epic novel that underneath it all has some great insights to modern society and how we've lost our Dudely paths. We at order of the Dude highly recommend you give it a read. If you're a Douglas Adams, Kurt Vonnegut, Tolken, or George R.R. Martin Fan (Pretty mixed company, but man it works!), you'll love it. William is a great Dude and spins a good yarn man. You can find the book on Amazon and the episode will be posted next week so be sure not to miss it! You can find the Dudecast on iTunes, YouTube, or right here on Order of the Dude. If you like our style and dig the Dudecast, be sure to rate us on iTunes or just spread the word! Shout out and thank you! to KahBudokon for giving us the great review on iTunes. The more Dudes there are in the world, the better! So help us spread the word Dudes.
If you've missed the last two Dudecasts, you're really missing out Dudes! On Episode 3 we had Kristian Lewin, better known as The Arch Dude of York on to talk about Dudestock UK and his involvement with helping raise money for the York Special Care Unit in his hometown of York, the ins and outs of his life since Dudestock, and what he's doing these days to abide and get by. Then in Episode 4 we brought in Craig McEachern (Rev. Dudely Noted) from DudeismTV who talked about his life and philosophies, and how he has overcome adversity by following the way of the Dude. Both righteous Dudes, and both have stories worth checking out. Don't worry though, you can still catch up by checking out the Episodes here. So check it out Dudes! They've posted the dates, locations and tickets are available online for the next Lebowski Fest! The Order of the Dude will be there and we're looking forward to meeting a lot of fellow Dudes out there. We are working on contacting the folks at Lebowski Fest to see if we can get them on the Dudecast and are hoping to be able to set something up to be able to do some "almost live" reporting from the event. This should be a great time with some very cool people and we're looking forward to being there with you. The event will run July 8th - 9th in Louisville, KY. Get your tickets here
There's this Dude, way over in Egypt, that is working hard to make his dream. A documentary on Dudeism and the Dudes around the world. We dig his efforts so much that we've contributed $250 towards his cause and are committing another $250 next month. Mahmoud Yahia, we really dig your style man! Let's help our fellow Dude realize this dream for us all. You can find the Dudetopia Facebook Page here, and you can contribute to his campaign for the Dudetopia Documentary here. Incidentally, Mahmoud will be making an appearance on the Dudecast sometime in one of the upcoming Episodes so be sure to subscribe so you can hear when he does.
You may have noticed, I've kind of dropped the ball on updating this section. Sorry about that Dudes! A lot has happend and well... I like to say "I've eaten and slept since then" and ultimately that leads to me just forgetting. We've had two episodes of the Dudecast released along with two tracks from The Dudes Lost Meditation tapes, crossed the 1000 Podcast subscription mark, and just generally been growin and expandin this little corner of the universe for all us Dudes out there. Thanks to all of you who have made our launch thus far a success and we hope to make this place even bigger and better. We've got some great guests joining us on the Dudecast over the next several episodes including Author/Professor/Philosopher/Martial Artist and one of the original "Pod-Fathers" Danielle Bolelli of "The Drunken Taoist" and "History on Fire" podcast fame.. Kristian Lewin, better known as "The Arch Dude of York", organizer of the first Dudestock in the UK... Craig McEachern, better known as "The Reverand Dudely Noted" and the founder of DudeismTv... and Mahmoud Yehia who is working on "Dudetopia", a documentary on Dudeism. We'll also be featuring some groovy music from Dudely artists on upcoming Dudecasts that should be pretty far out. Next we are looking at releasing really cool swag including some T-shirts and Stickers for your car. Well, that should catch things up pretty well for now... lots more to come, and I'll try to be a bit better at getting around to getting this section updated for you. We Really, REALLY, want to hear from you with your comments, suggestions, if you want to be a guest on the Dudecast, or just if you want to say hello. Drop us a line to Dude@orderofthedude.com and I promiss you'll hear back from us!
